🔬 Overview
The LIGAN platform offers the SomaSeq solution, a large-scale proteomics technology combining automated sample preparation with next-generation sequencing (NGS).
This approach enables the simultaneous capture and quantification of over 9,500 proteins from human plasma or serum samples – and much more besides!
⚙️ General principle
The technology is based on:
- The use of aptamers (SOMAmer) specific to target proteins
- Automated and standardised sample preparation, ensuring reproducibility and the best sensitivity on the market
- The generation of NGS-compatible libraries
- Protein quantification using dedicated bioinformatics tools
It combines analytical depth, technical robustness and workflow standardisation.
🚀 Applications
SomaSeq technology is particularly well suited to:
- Large-scale cohort studies
- Identification of complex protein signatures
- Translational research projects
- Integration into multi-omic approaches
- Systematic exploration of the circulating proteome
🔧Technological infrastructure
The implementation of SomaSeq is based on a two-stage technological process:
- an automated sample preparation phase dedicated to the generation of NGS-compatible libraries
- sequencing carried out on our NovaSeq X Plus platform
This configuration ensures control over the analytical workflow, high throughput and standardised performance.

Preparation equipment:
Illumina Protein Prep Automation System (IPPAS) – TECAN Fluent robot adapted to the protocol, enabling library generation.
Sequencing:
Illumina NovaSeq X Plus – High-capacity next-generation sequencing.
Analysis:
Locally hosted DRAGEN server (Illumina) – Generation, processing and normalisation of results
